Some flash sites can have videos with a high bit rate that can cause this. What happens if you download the videos to your hard drive and then play them? Are they smooth then?

For example, how does this play on your PC ?
YouTube - Show: Dancing with the Dragon and the Phoenix

I've had some friends claim it was choppy for them, and I did apply a reasonably high bit rate when I created it (compared to many other youtube videos).

Well, that successful playback sort of kills my bit rate theory ! ...

When the sound is choppy are you getting a good consistent stream of audio data from the web site to which you have connected?
