Default Sil3124 Raid Controller

I have had my silicon image 3124 PCI raid controller working in the Opensuse 11.1 x86 version. For some reason in the x86-64 version the sata_sil driver does recognize the card properly, it just has an output of "failed to IDENTIFY" and fails to mount or even recognize the 2 disks I have on there. Any ideas? I saw a bug report on this issue but the jargon is more technical with abbreviations that I do not really comprehend. If there was a fix for it, is beyond me. Thanks for your time.
