I found this site:
Acer Aspire Timeline 5810T [Linux Laptop Wiki] where they report that debian with kernetl 2.6.30 work well. Is it worth to try the 11.2?

That means you'd have to wait a couple of months. 11.2 is to be released in November. From what I've checked on the wiki, 11.1 should support the hardware. Sure the ethernet card was not detected? Install media checked and 100% OK?

thank you for the quick reply,
Yes only the wireless network connection was detected, no eth0; would you point me the referred wiki article and do you think i would try with the last 11.2 release?

I downloaded 11.2 and starting the installation I noted a first difference with 11.1
with 11.2 the bios does not present to me a strange menu at boot and then the attansic driver "atl1c" was reported to be loaded

Hi all
I was able to install 11.2 with no problem both eth0 and wlan0 was correctly detected with the graphic adapter too. I would report a very strange behaviour with the net install of opensuse 11.1. While with the 11.2 the boot process from the CD was smooth as usual with the 11.1 I got the following messagesbefore to start the booting process Code:
0. NOEmulation System Type:00 1. NOEmulation System Type:00 Enter selection: I the iso image corrupted or ..?

Hi
I can't understand why this weird behaviour of the net-install CD of 64bit (I tryed an old 11.1 CD of 32bit version with no strange menu) but after some attempts I was able to run the installation of the 11.1 with the wireless connection. Now it is possible to use the NIC module of 11.2 for the 11.1 to make the eth0 work? On the site Acer Aspire Timeline 5810T [Linux Laptop Wiki] it is reported that the following link Atheros Communications supply the maker driver for the ethernet card but I'm not able to use that file, any help?

Hi
first report from the installation of 11.1
so the 11.2 unstable release for this pc seems a lot "more stable" correcly detected the hardware and the dual boot with Vista worked out of the box. Have I to move to onother distro ....
