Dell Optiplex 760 - ATI Radeon HD 3450

I am trying to get a dual monitor setup working in XWindows on a ATI Radeon HD 3450

I have the card functioning by uninstalling all of the fglrx related packages, and downloading and building the latest driver from the ATI site. Then running sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx, then ati-config --initial=dual-head --desktop-setup=horizontal --screen-layout=right

What I have ended up with is:
1) both monitors are active and I can move the mouse back and forth normally

2) the left (main) monitor has the desktop on it

3) the right monitor has the grey xwindows background hash

4) windows cannot be dragged from the left to the right monitors

This seems to indicate that the desktop size is not set correctly, but I cannot find anything that changes this.

Try using the ATI Catalyst software:

amdccle

From a console.

It is stated in the install readme not to use sax with the ATI modules but
after the install just use aticonfig and then when at the GUI use amdccle.

If you have a look there are options you can pass to aticonfig to get an
initial twin head config but it is much easier to use the GUI to do it.

I have a box here with a HD3450 in it and it works fine with 2 screens and I
never touch sax, only the ATI tools to configure.
