Question Opensuse Performance on HP Tablet PC

I bought a HP Pavilion tx2001au Entertainment Notebook PC (HP Pavilion tx2001au Entertainment Notebook PC*) and installed OpenSuse 11.0 .
I would like to know how to improve its performance in openSuse? Its as slow in OpenSuse as in Vista Home Premium.I triple booted it with Windows Xp and its lightning fast in XP...
Compiz too runs extremely poorly even with the NVIDIA closed source drivers..

Also the tablet becomes very hot while using Opensuse. How can I check that?

I'm using opensuse 11.0 64 bit with 3GB RAM.

Can somebody suggest some instrumentation/ performance check tips? I want to use the Suse partition for development work while Vista for other non programming work..I guess even the XP partition is good for programming work.

Default Re: Opensuse Performance on HP Tablet PC

I recommend settings Nvidia to VSync with the nvidia-settings tool. Also when i used Compiz 0.8.2 i discovered a performance boost, you can find it in this repo (choose according to Your Desktop Environment be it Gnome or KDE), of course it may break but you can always revert back to standard Compiz by disabling that repo and update all red packages in Software Management in YaST.

Always set both compiz and nvidia to vsync, this improves performance a bit so it isn't too jumpy.

The rest i can't really help You.
