Question Compiz lockup on Intel GMA 950

I have a Intel 945G chipset MSI mainboard with built-in Intel GMA 950 video. However, whenever I enable compiz and try to use the task switcher, the systems hangs up. I have to hard reboot to make the system usable again.

I am using openSUSE 11.1, GNOME desktop.

Any remedies?

There was a post in the openSUSE newsweekly mentioning possible problems with compiz in 11.1.

Might help to update to the latest packages and reset your compiz config.. Direct link to CyberOrg for more info : CyberOrg » Compiz on openSUSE 11.1

After these updates I'm running compiz without any glitches so far... also on 11.1 , GNOME with an Inter 945 GM chipset.

Hope that helps,
Wj

Which xorg driver are you using? There are at least two for your chipset.

As a bonus, this combined with the new ATI Catalyst 9.1 got rid of the video flicker issue under Compiz!
Holy poop I'd been living with that problem forever and ever....
AND OpenGL apps run fine under Compiz now!
