Opensuse 11.1
trying to use Yast2 - Hardware - Printer to attach an HP C8180 . The printer is on a network , the connection wizard can see it (message : Test ok) and then continues to retrieve the driver information, but this stops after 18% is reached with message 'Timed out ' and 'Failed to create the printer driver database' Hp-toolbox utility does not work as I get this message : the sip module implements API v6.0 but the qt module requires API v5.0 A known bug in python - sip On Debian Lenny this seems to be fixed, in opensuse not yet. Anything else I can do ? Thanks Db |

Which version of hplip is installed? The stock one from 11.1(2.8.?) is seriously old. You might try installing the newer one from the Printing repository (even that one is slightly behind the latest at hplip.net).
