Try the latest version from the ati website. First uninstall the ati driver rpms and install as root in runlevel 3.

I have an ATI Xpress 1150 (also Xpress 200M), so its very nearly the same as yours.

The binary fglrx drivers work well for me (using the openSUSE supplied ones, not from ati's site). Rubbish for games, but I get wobbly windows etc. I get around 300-500 fps in glxgears (less in fgl_glxgears)

The opensource radeon driver also works. Allegedly it will support 3d on my hardware, but it doesn't - I can't use AIGLX.

Opensuse 11.1, using the ati/11.1 repository.

Sorry I can't be of more help, I'm not sure exactly how an 1100 differs from an 1150.

I did read something about enabling or disabling UMA/sideband memory. As far as I understand, this is whether the card uses its own memory only, its own + grabbing some ram, or disable its own and only use ram. fglrx only works with certain options (this is in the bios). Might be worth a look.

Oh, if you want to look at my xorg.conf & driver versions just ask & I'll post them
