.run file won't run

I've downloaded the current Ati driver (version 9.6) for my 4870, it's a file with .run extension.

When I click this file in Dolphin, it stupidly launches KWrite? wtf!?
I right-clicked the file, but just found other text editors to open it with, no option to run or install

How do you run this .run file? Shouldn't it automatically run when you click it?

open a console
make the file executable - chmod +x /path/to/file/file.run
./file.run

Also you may consider using the ATI driver from the repos instead
