I went through YAST/Cups and added the network printer through its IP address and it was able to find it. However, I don't see a suitable driver in the list and when I try to print, it simply spits out empty pages. Anyone know how to get this printer working with openSuse 11?

I found it.
But now that I installed hplip, what do I do? |

ARGH!
OK, so I installed hplip, and then in CUPS I set the printer model to "HP->Officejet 6500" and it's got the same issue as before. It's printing empty pages! What do I need to do to get this to work? |

I had to delete the configured printer, reinstall everything but now it works! |

well done; enjoy;
do you feel you have the time to spell out exactly what you did, so anyone following in your footsteps can have a smoother path? |

I think that's quite clear: He removed the existing configuration, created a new one and thus solved the matter.

Thanks growbag for the suggestion of changing HPlip from Openssue to packman. After upgrading, I was able to configure my HP 6940 wirelessly as I did before, but the the upgrade recognized the printer wirelessly. It was wonderful to hear the test page printing in the other room!
