Greetings!
I am running a custom-built HP 8730W notebook with a quad-core processor and an nVidia FX 3700M display adapter. I am running the Gnome version of OpenSUSE 11.1. I'm not 100% sure which nVidia "one-click" package to install. I tried the one for "newer" nVidia cards, as this is a brand new card (I believe they just started making them either this year or last year), but that seems to have killed my X server. Can anyone advise as to which "one-click" package I should use? Is there one, yet? I would really like to get this adapter working correctly with 3D and dual-head enabled if at all possible (as I have a 30-inch LCD monitor at my desk - so I would like to use the dual-head configuration when I'm at work). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Other nvidia users please correct me if I'm wrong here. Your model is quite recent. There is a new nvidia driver version that supports your chipset as detailed here:
Linux Display Driver - x86 It tells you to follow the SuSE instructions here: Nvidia Installer HOWTO for SUSE LINUX users You may need to install via nvidia installer package instead of 1-click install. |

Thanks for the tip. I will give that a shot and report back tomorrow.

Worked a treat. Thanks. Now I just need to get dual-head working, but that's not working in Windows, either, so it's most likely a hardware issue I need to investigate.

Good work
Just remember to watch out for kernel updates - you will need to reinstall graphics driver in this case.
