when I installed 11.1 on my new Gateway SX2800 I vaguely remember seeing a screen that popped up and it looked as though it was submitting my hardware list to somewhere.. I forget what that was.

Think this might need a title change to 11.2, or be unsticked/replaced with a 11.2 topic soon

Indeed! We will probably start a new thread/stickie, with this one as a reference link in the 1st post of the new 11.2 stickie.

I also have a version of the "New Users" stickie on my hard drive, waiting until just before 11.2 release, before posting it. I've divided the "New Users" stickie into two parts, ... where one part does not change (no matter what openSUSE version) and one part that is version specific.

I believed I've had problems. See my full post about it. Now that I think about it, "HCL" does come up in the warning message. I'd tell you what else comes up there, but "HCL" is all I remember. As for my failures, I believe that sometimes when an app tries to play a sound, something goes into an infinite loop that causes increasing thrashing. If I don't reboot in about 2 minutes, my system completely locks up.

notebook Asus k50in, core2duo t6600, 4GB, nvidia g102m, wireless m atheros ar9285, (OK)
k50in integrated webcam Chicony CN7129(NOT WORKING FINE).

Opensuse 11.1 x64, Working fine, suspend correctly and awake fine, nvidia drivers rules as usual.
Atheros ar9285 doesn't work out of the box but I have solved easily by installing compat-wireless kernel modules.
Madwifi doesn't solve with this atheros card.. compat-wireless is a simple one-click solution and works perfectly with network manager.

Brightness and special function keys are working fine too.

webcam Chicony works fair with luvcview but the image is upside down.
Skype visualizes upsidedown image and the image is also at lower resolution, very dark and auto-tuning seems disabled.
There is a way to flip image with a workaround but the dark colors with a strange green background tone makes webcam unusable for Skype usage.
Please release a fix for this issues for 11.1 too.
Regards
