Added BenQ FP951 monitor that isn't properly detected or configurable during install or after, so far.
Also noted that this is the only major distro that has failed to detect and properly configure this montior out of the box including Fedora, Mandirva, PC Linux OS, Ububtu and Kbuntu, and Debian. ttfn John |

Just tried to install Epson AcuLaser C900 colour laser printer, everything loads perfectly until the last step, it makes all the right noises but fails at the last hurdle & doesn't actually print!
However, it shows as having printed in the printer log!! I'm having to use windoze to print anything. |

@slithy2003: Which driver have you tried? Have you had look here? Might be a good idea to start a new thread if you require assistance.

As has been noted, it looks a nightmare to edit. I really don't have that kind of time but I DO want to contribute. So, Moderator, if you please... This list of home-cobbled hardware worked perfectly without any gigging that I recall. I love this system!
openSuSE 11.1 from downloaded .iso burned to DVD. KDE 4.x seemed SO unnecessary and was so HORRIBLY buggy that I had to rebuild clean with only KDE 3.5.10 release 21.9 Mainboard: ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 939 RAM: Crucial PC3200 -400MHz CL-3 184-Pin DDR DIMM Graphics: XFX GEForce 6800 GS 256Mb, @ 485MHz PCI Express I/O: Logitech TrackMan Wheel Microsoft 4000 keyboard. (only MS thing I own or will. They brand a hellava keyboard. lol... but have not attempted any custom keyboard configuration. The basic stuff all works fine.) Canon ip1500 worked on 10.3 release using a driver from Canon for SuSE Linux 9.3 Professional. Having installed 11.1 the printer is now unusable. Canon fail to respond to my request for an update.

According to the open printing database:
OpenPrinting database - Printer: Canon iP 1500 it's a paperweight. Generally hp are the best supported in linux. Before buying another printer, check the database. My cheap Samsung had driver problems for scanning till Samsung must have had enough complaints to update the install scripts. Like Cannon, I should imagine, their official line was: 'We don't support linux'. - despite my pointing out to them the reason I bought it was because the box advertised linux support. |
