Thumbs up Re: All 11.1 users: Please fill in HCL for openSUSE-11.1

MB ASUS P5QLE P43 chipset (intel ICH10R, Atheros 1e LAN)
Intel Q6600
2x2GB DDR2 800 Apacer
2x160GB Seagate SATAII (in raid 0)
Saphire Radeon HD4650 512MB DDR3
Dual boot: OpenSUSE 11.1 64bit and Vista ultimate 64 bit
Everything works perfectly (out of the box, I only had to install atheros drivers for LAN) except for compiz (worked on 11.0)
Great work, best distro for me, and the ONLY one I didn't have problems setting up RAID (didin't try Ubuntu...yet )

I added the P5QL-E to the HCL. Please check my entry for accuracy:
HCL/Main Boards - openSUSE

Thanks!

Being basically lazy I will leave as is. I eventually found a good comparison in the HP maintenance and service guide and there are a few differences such as the b series has a fingerprint reader, and a media card reader. The guide also explains how to dismantle the laptop and replace parts , and also shows

Monitor
  • Samsung 206BW
  • LG L245WP (Based on someoene else who posted he got it working + mini how-to)
  • Acer Al707
Laptop
  • Compal HL90
Soundcard
  • Sweex sc004v2
  • Audigy 2/Platinum
Motherboard
  • Foxconn a7gm-s
  • MSI P7N SLI PLatinum

P.S. Mainboard > ATX is a mess.. that's one hell of a table.

I selected all the parts and local computer store assembled it because I was
short of time. I'll put the parts in seperately this weekend for 11.0.

Hi,

I wanted to add my experience with my DELL precision M4400 laptop, but I'am to stupid (or not really willing) to edit the HTML code. The HCL system should be made easier.

Greetings

Michael

I agree the wiki syntax is a royal pain.

Take a look at the information that is typically provided for a laptop, and either post that information here, or send it to me in a PM, and I'll make the wiki entry for you. I do believe it is worth the effort. I find myself consulting the HCL many times.

I just added my Gateway GT5670 for 11.1 it was a small edit I had already done the HCL for 11.0 just added 11.1 to the list.
A new item I added to it was my HP C3180 printer. It's a good thing they have a "preview page " button there. It took me a little bit to figure out but I got it in there.
Just a year ago I'd never have even attempted that.

Well done. I find the syntax anything but friendly. I wish they had an editor/gui front end to it. It took me a while to learn the basics, and like you, I find the preview invaluable.
