Network printer problems

Hello!

First of all I'm apologize if I'll seem to be a nob but this is my fist try in linux, I work in windows environment in the secondary school I teach.

My problem is that I got a 'HP LaserJet 5000' printer which is connected to a windows based PC. The PC is in a domain. The printer is shared and addressed for the domain controller as well.

If I try to connect from any PC/laptop (from in or out of the domain) it's connect smooth and quick.
However not from my Suse 11.0 based laptop. It's not in the domain.

I tried everything in YAST but I just couldn't make it work. My best try was when I wanted to connect to the printer using Samba. It connected to the PC but there it can't find any printers. (I have to use the machines IP address because in some reason I can't address them by name in linux. But I can mount shared folders from them).

If anyone got some advice I'd be grateful.

The connection is direct? You're not using a JetDirect NIC in the HP to hang
it off the network?

Well, can't help you with details, as I allways use networked printers.

But SAMBA is the correct way to go, if the printer can only be accessed
trough the Windows machine. You'll have to work on setting the right
permission, I guess.
