Today, I tested the latest OO 3.2 version from the STABLE- and the UNSTABLE-repositories (OO 3.2.1) of Opensuse 11.2. With and without the prebuildt localization packages. My Opensuse 11.2 (x86_64) is run with KDE 4.4.3 from the Factory repository.

The problem with the status line in OO Writer is still present in KDE 4.3 and KDE 4.4, but not in Gnome. (I checked for comparison how things look on an older system based on Debian. There, the problems with Writer's status line do not appear for OO 3.0.x in a KDE 3.5 environment.)

So the problem really is dependent on KDE 4 and OO versions > 3.1.x, 3.2x. Bugs with respect to the event handling in the qt-gtk-environment ?

It looks as if the refreshing and rerendering of the panels in the status line are not done completely. When I start Writer maximized the status line looks OK. However minimizing the OO window and maximizing it again leads to a complete disappearance of the status line contents.

This is independent of the KDE theme and choosen GTK-style in the system-settings.

Furthermore there are problems with the checkboxes in the menu for the activation and deactivation otf the toolbars. When you open the menu a lot of the checkboxes appear marked although they aren't. When one moves the mouse down the menu the setting of each checkbox is adjusted to the real value - but only when the mouse passes the respective line for the toolbar.

So the integration of Openoffice into the KDE 4 environment is still not convincing. It is somewhat frustrating ...
