I'll have to check.
I will highly appreciate it. Thanks.

On 11.2 RC2 your xorg-x11-server should be 1.6.5, i.e. not 1.7 as someone claimed in a previous post.

Thanks. xorg-server 1.6.5 should be fine with the nvidia drivers. Enjoy!

I know it's confusing, but someone in development must understand why openSUSE uses that quaint old Xorg version numbering system. It makes it difficult to compare across distros, and difficult to know exactly what's being supported by openSUSE. This isn't very helpful if one is trying to solve a problem with a video driver that isn't fully supported by openSUSE. Many other distros have for a long time been using the xorg-x11-server version and so has Distrowatch. Maybe openSUSE prefer it that way if their xorg is heavily patched, or an early testing vehicle for Xorg, etc. Perhaps another member could throw more light on this.

It is indeed confusing. On Arch the xorg-server versioning follows the 1.6.x --> 1.7.x pattern. But the xorg-server-utils is following the 7.4.x --> 7.5.x.

BTW, I did a test yesterday and the xorg-server-utils package can be upgraded without hassle (to 7.5). The problem resides in xorg-server 1.7.x. And it is unclear when (if ever) nvidia will patch the 173 and 96 drivers. The 190 have been fixed according to their site. The evilness of closed drivers. Too bad nouveau doesn't do it for my card.

Code:
X -version
is the easiest way in finding out.

Early adopters will always be the guinea pigs for the first real wide spread test, even if there was an extensive testing period (for *Buntu it isn't that extensive due to the forced, very short cycle) and still I bet you > 80% of all "severe problems" are users errors.
I agree with Akoellh patience, There are some things I like with most leading Distro's, but I guess the question should be "Good start with Windows 7?!!!?"
By the way how is Studio going?, it is a Great Idea hope to update it soon with opensuse 11.2
