Default Firefox 3.5

Hi,

I just upgraded to Firefox 3.5 (I know I waited a long time, but I didn't want a buggy browser).

I wanted to say how great it is, MUCH faster than the previous version. I wish I hadn't waited so long.
I recommend it to anyone who's still using the old version.

add repository: Additional YaST Package Repositories - openSUSE and upgrade to firefox 3.5.

Regards,
Barry.

After using Chrome, i would recommend chrome to people instead of FF. Its in build service section of the forum.

Hi,

Not wanting to be left behind again, I'm trying Google Chrome 64 bit.

It seems good, but haven't noticed a huge speed increase.

Barry.

I must agree with mmarif4u, chrome is amazing fast. It's like a decent opel vectra and a ferrari

That's because you haven't cleaned out years of **** left in the vectra, and the ferrari's just left the showroom.

I can't agree with that I was testing clean firefox and clean chrome and the speed difference is seen with a naked eye

I'f i'm not wrong then the browsing speed at firefox is not affected by how big the history is, only the startup is affected by that and there is no denying that WebKit is better for browsing and Gecko for extending the browser with add-ons

BBR, It was a light-hearted comment to relieve a trying couple of days. I was having a sly dig at FF for becoming bloated, but didn't do well enough in portraying an overstuffed opel.

Anyway, your feed back was more interesting. I must give the ferrari a spin sometime.

Chrome is amazingly fast, but I can't use, because every time when I start instead of showing my homepage - in the first focused tab - , it shows me a warning message in a new (2nd) tab (focused) that is just a dev. version, etc.etc. It's really _annoying_.

I'm not sure if it will help You but if i invoke it in akregator (chrome %u it shows just that one tab), you could try using %u with chrome command. As i'm downloading somethin now i can't check it.

Just to add my thoughts on 3.5. I upgraded to 3.5.2 from 3.0.11 but I cannot honestly say how it was because it would never load, it would get so far then exit - must have been a conflict with an extension. Went back to 3.0 until 3.5.3 came out. 3.5.3 does seem a bit faster, but as my broadband connection (in rural Germany) can only described as rubbish, it is a little hard to tell. Not sure about the 'new tab' button at the right of the tabs though, but that is just asthetics.
