I haven't fooled around enough with openSUSE to see what the latest versions of applications are compared to the Ubuntu repositories. Also, I don't know how well openSUSE is about backporting updates to older versions of openSUSE. I am curious, though, to see how openSUSE moving to an 8-month release cycle is going to pan out. I've been thinking 6 months seems short but the idea behind that does make sense (to take advantage of new developments and significant changes in addition to new application versions and stability because each version going into the repository is built off of a single point of reference). Oh, and the LiveCD has saved my butt more than a few times (BSOD = boot to Ubuntu Live, open Server, copy My Documents to server, attempt fixing things...)

openSUSE is much better in that regards for me. I can always seem to find the latest versions on the Build Service.

If this means I can successfully use SUSE, great. I'm all ready to apply myself.
