Thumbs down Can't access Novell-archives page

On trying to access this page: http://forums.opensuse.org/archives/...-updates.html; after signing-in to openSUSE Forums, I get the follwong error -

zmdmw52, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I am not trying to edit anything, just want to read that post.
Any solutions ?

Hi
It may be because of the recent change to the archives, I can get to
the two links you provided. That is probably because I'm a Moderator,
but will followup with the Forum Admins.

In the post the user was actually asking how to update all in
the YaST list, but I'm guessing your wanting to save the downloaded
updates?

Suggest you post in the forum your issue and see if we can answer for
you

In keeping with OS principles, I feel the archives should be browsable by all users.

Yes, I would like to save the Updates (eg new kernel, nvidia drivers and such) & additional installed packages locally, then write them all to DVD and use the CD/DVD as a local repo to update from in case I need to do a re-install.

I have posted it here: YOU: where the "Remove Source Packages after Update"? - openSUSE Forums

Thanks,

Ken G. posted (somewhere) yesterday that he took the archives off the
opening page of the forums <http://forums.opensuse.org/> just to clean
up that page some (and, who would enter from there to just browse
around) but that they were still available via search..

apparently, somehow he accidentally broke something...
hmmm...i guess he checked to make sure it was available via search and
it was, WHILE signed in with his admin privileges..

Try it now...these forum rights things get complicated sometimes.

better, but not fully baked (imo):

i searched google on
sitepensuse.org "9.3 install"
expecting an archived link and was happy with:

http://forums.opensuse.org/archives/...al-camera.html

which i could *not* access until i signed into my forum account...

which is UNLIKE when following a google for a current forum posting
("install 11.1" yields a first hit of
http://forums.opensuse.org/network-i...ss-no-url.html)

which is immediately available *without* signing in (as it should be)..

personally i'd vote (if asked) to make the archives as open as the
current forum..
