I wish there was an encyclopedia for OpenSuse

I wish there was an encyclopedia for OpenSuse a simple RPM package that would be a desktop type encyclopedia similar to Encartra or World book. This would be a good thing. I hate Windows and would like to be able to do many of things in Linux that I can do in Windows but there are the software license issues. Can't play a movie DVD, Can't transcribe some MS-Office files to Open-Office, Can't use a desktop Encyclopedia. This should not be happening to Linux. There have to be some smart programmers out there that can fix these things and make all Linux OS distributions more competitive than Windows. I also have some issues with only being able to use IPV6 in the USA, while Europe is using IPV24 to IPV28. This is a pitiful level of security IPV6, don't you think???

Follow this path to the file /usr/share/doc/manual/opensuse-manual_en/manual/index.html and open it in your web browser. Should keep you busy for a while.

Also, if you have a question about a specific application you can often find answers in the tree of docs at /usr/share/doc/packages.......

If you install the rpm htdig and build an index in KDEhelp, you can search these packages on keywords.

@swedna i think the op is more interested in a traditional encyclopedia.
Did a quick Google and found that Britannica works with Linux

Interesting link, wonder if the 2008/9 versions or Britannica work.

There's always http://wikipedia.org Though some complain, I find most of the
information there to be pretty good.

Add the VideoLan repository and install libdvdcss2. Remove the repository.
Add the Packman repository and install libxine1 and xine-ui and kaffeine.
Enjoy your DVDs.

Install wine, install Microsoft Office. Not sure if I'd go above
Office 2003 though... but I do use up to that version without many
issues.

??? You mean NOT using IPv6? The USA has been pretty slow at adopting
IPv6. Mostly IPv4. Not really an issue.

Well.. I'll have to admit, I don't know what IPV24 and IPV28 are. The
replacement for IPv4 is IPv6. AFAIK, there isn't anything else.

At least at my house (where both my wife and I have been using Linux for
years), we can do more with Linux than we can with Windows (unless you
have $$$$$ to spare).
