Well, I talked it over with the rest of the mod team - but it's pretty clear to me that the intention is that it be easy to identify individual users. So let's just go with that as the reason - please don't make my job more difficult, or give NNTP users a bad rap by changing identities/names. :-) Jim -- Jim Henderson openSUSE Forum Moderator |

i've come back to this now after starting my second cup of morning
coffee, and with reflection i feel the need to add a few thoughts: it is not my intention to: - put up a personal affront to our newest moderator (whose selection and addition i openly welcome and applaud) - make any mod's job (or member's experience) here more difficult.. - challenge the authority here, nor its rightful ability to control the (potential) mob.. - attempt to hide my identity in order to violate any of the T&Cs, including all of those in the legal document's Rules of Conduct - attempt to hide the actual posting IP or serving ISP's unique message/user ID numbers which remain traceable directly to this machine's connection.. those, and others might cause one to ask: Then what _are_ your intentions? i intend to: - be helpful to open source software in general, Linux in particular and (currently) openSUSE exclusively.. - "pay back" to those who helped me become reasonably comfortable in using Linux by helping, supporting, training, guiding, encouraging and etc those that follow to grow in knowledge, capability, and self reliance.. - set an example of helpfulness which might 'rub off' on a few who will want to help those who come even later.. - do those three things to the best of my ability without payment of any kind, including but not limited to: cash, barter, 'pay-back', esteem, or praise.. which might then prompt one more question: Why do you change sigs? simple: i neither need nor want recognition/praise/esteem in terms of community/forum titles, ranks, post counts, reputation points or geckos/etc lined up next to my account ID.. -- goldie |

I Confess! I did not read the T&C's and set up two different accounts. One was for posting from windows XP and the other from openSuse. I have not used my other account for a very long time.......
