Default Interesting username problem

Hey guys,

I noticed an interesting problem with my username yesterday when trying to view my public profile on the forums. It's not a major problem, but I thought I should bring it up because it's out of the ordinary. I have a dash in my name, but when I click my name to view my profile, the username shown is "UnseenGhost" with no dash. I used to have a username UnseenGhost before the forum overhaul more than a year ago, but since the forums were combined with the others, I haven't used it since then (well over a year ago). I figured it might be how the forum substitutes spaces in names (adds a dash in the URL to remove spaces from the URL) and when I go to view my profile, it removes the dash. Nothing big, just thought I would bring it up because I can't seem to view my real public profile.

Thanks!

I have only just registered with this site and have a similar problem. just recently, any time I join a forum site I have to use more and more user names as it's not accepting, saying in use by somebody else and when I come back to a site I have to try and remember which user name I used, thankfully, we dont have to do the same with EMail Adresses.

Regards

Paul

I think it has something to do with username restrictions with Novell
accounts. Kim will know for sure.

It actually is an issue with our SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) package
that is an addon to the vBulletin forum software. The SEO helps us
greatly in getting our content up the hit list on search engines like
Google, Yahoo, etc. I've done some testing of this for other users with
similar complaints and found it's an issue with the way our SEO presents
URLs. I've raised a bug with the vBSEO company but in the meantime, the
solution if you want it is to work with me to change your user ID. If you
want to do that, send me a private message here (accessible from the user
control panel) and I'll be happy to work with you on it. Sorry for the
hassle.
