Default SUSE IRC help

Not exactly on the lines of the forum Usage but I have been seeing topics which have stated people used the SUSE IRC.
I wanted to check out the IRC, to see what it is and how it works. I just dont get it. All I have managed to figure out is I use something like XCHAT to get there using my username and password. How do I find the SUSE IRC? Are there multiple IRC channels?
Any pointers or tips? I did read the rules here on the forums, just don't know how to go about it.

Thanks,
SirShaggy

when it ask you if you want to join a channel make sure it is on freenode server then just type in suse and it will connect you to the suse channel
you could also use konversation and it will connect upto suse channel right off the bat

Hopefully someone with operator rights in the channel will assist you.
Forums staff doesn't have any input on how the IRC channels are run. My
guess would be you're using a nick someone else got banned.

You might want to email the IRC ops from
this site to see if
they can tell you why your name or ip has been banned.

Please do a /whois yourself and private message me your host - I will check why you have been banned (most likely someone from your ISP has been causing havoc with lots of different IPs -> they've made a wide ban).

also:

#suse has a permanent ban on root user - so if you're iRCing as root (which you should _never ever_ do) you can't join the channel.
