Hi, just joined.

I'd like to be clear on the best method for ensuring mmedia playback - flash, quicktime, dvd. I believe that using the "YMP" one-click method will use the "Pacman" repos.

Here are the points I'm unsure about.

On a new install of OpenSuse (any version):

should I choose in Yast Software certain mmedia packages to _not_ install - like xine etc - to help avoid conflicts?

If I just go for a default install and run it to check things work, before doing the "YMP" thing should I remove certain packages in Yast?

Hello all.

Well, since it seems I simply cannot make Banshee work in 11.2 with KDE, I am stuck with Amarok. Now, Amarok confuses the heck out of me so I hope I get used to it. Here are my questions:

1) Is there an EQ plugin or a way to add an EQ?

2) How do I add a radio station to Amarok? In Banshee, I would just go to the Radio section and click Add Station, add my station and then it would show in a list, ready for my to click and play. How do I accomplish this or something similar in Amarok? I listen to internet radio a LOT.

Thanks in advance, everyone. Have a great day, y'all! :)

Hi @ all!

I´ve got the problem that i get no sound with adobe Flash 10.0.32.18 in Firefox 3.5.4 on my Suse 11.2

What i´ve done:

After Suse 11.2 installation i installed Audiocodecs by using 1 click installation from:

Restricted Formats/11.2 - openSUSE-Community

Switched default Sound to USB Device in Sound Options in Task bar.

After this i uninstalled the Adobe Flash plugin and reinstalled the Flash Plugin (after uninstall of Plugin, it still appears in Firefox as "10.0r32") by using the install Option direct from the adobe homepage as Yast Installation.

I get sound with Koffein, can play mp3, everything fine, but Flash Clips are without sound.

For sound i use usb speakers plugged in direct to the USB port of my Asrock motherboard.

Suse also find the on board Nvidia Soundchip, but i only use the usb speakers.

For further test i installed VLC Player. Here i also got no Sound, but Video is still playing.

Could somebody help me?

THX for Support

I have SMplayer crashing after starting playback of a certain DVD from folder. Got everything installed according to Restricted Formats Installation Guide, all other media is played properly (including DVDs). Could that be any kind of protection or anything else? The player just closes after choosing "play all" either "play a scene", but other menus (audio settings e.g.) work right.
I've checked the files and they're not corrupted, everything seems to be fine, but it still just terminates.

Hey fellow lizards,

I just installed openSUSE 11.2 64bit version with Gnome desktop environment, I have problem with the successfully installed multimedia codecs from the Packman repository; my suse box already has the following plugins:
gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ugly
gstreamer-0_10-plugins-farsight
gstreamer-0_10-schroedinger
gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad
gstreamer-0_10-plugins-base
gstreamer-0_10-plugins-good
gstreamer-0_10-plugins-good-extra
bluez-gstreamer
gstreamer010-ffmpeg
gstreamer010-fluendo-mpegdemux
gstreamer010-fluendo-mpegmux
ffmpeg-java

However, whenever I run soundconverter, sound-juicer, or play flash video using swfdec plugin, it always shows a error message states that mp3 and aac (mp4) is not supported and I need to install the reqired codecs in order to playback/convert multimedia files. I cannot figure out what I'm missing. I'm an ex-fedora user and I was able to get full multimedia support with the above mentioned plugins. Frankly speaking, I like opensuse and I don't want to revert to fedora. Can any one help me to remain with the suse community and fix this problem. Thanks.
