I'm trying to copy my music library from my Fat32 formatted USB external drive temporarily to an internal NTFS formatted HDD. My intention is then to reformat the USB drive to ext4 and copy it all back to the USB drive.

The problem I'm having is that some files refuse to copy as they have apostrophes in the filename, e.g. Don't answer me.flac. I get a message saying that the file does not exist. Any suggestions how I can get around this?

Incase you're wondering, the reason why I'm copying to an ntfs drive is that it's the only one with enough space on it. Now that I've put oS11.2 on what was my XP box I'm working on formatting all my drives to ext4 but it requires some juggling around with copying stuff backwards and forwards

I am trying to set up an openSUSE 11.2 vm using Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 SP1 64bit

I currently have an OpenBSD and WS2008 R2 VM working without issue.

When trying to install openSUSE 11.2 it crashes almost immediately, saying "linuxrc crashed."

I have tried, with the same result, installing from both the iso image, and also from a burned DVD.

The same iso image installs fine under VMWare Fusion on a MacBook Pro. But crashes in Hyper-V.

Any ideas or suggestions before I end up with Ubuntu :( instead?

Laptop: Acer Aspire 7530G with GeForce 9600M 4 Gigs of RAM

500 Gig HD partitioned by Windows into C (123G), D (232G) and E (111G). D and E were empty. Managed to get SuSe to install into E. In Nautilus under File System both C and D show up in the Windows folder.

Now to the real problem: Grub shows boot options as Suse, Windows 1, Windows 2, and Suse Failsafe. Suse boots okay (splash page signature problem, but not serious), but Vista will not boot. Windows 1 responds with "missing bootmgr" and Windows 2 similarly (not sure why Windows 2 even shows up). Below is some further technical info. I sure hope someone can help me.

Thanks.

I had MsWinXP on the 300gb drive (sda here), then installed 11.1 to the 120gb (sdb)
They lived together happily with openSuse grub menu working fine and dual booting.

I then installed 11.2 on to the 300Gb, leaving windows where it was and only sharing the swapfile on the 120Gb. All was fine, and triple boot available, 11.2's grub menu would appear first, if I wanted 11.1 I selected it, then the old 11.1 grub menu would appear. Yesterday I booted MsWin for the first time since installing 11.2.
Now, I boot and get the 11.2 grub menu, but if I select ANYTHING other than 11.2, MsWinXP starts....

Hey guys,

I've been trying to burn Suse 11.2 to a DVD now for a couple of days but I keep running into trouble. When verifying a disk after burning Suse on it it keeps giving me errors. I've tried Nero and ImgBurn, different burners, different ISOs, different burning speeds (downloaded via torrent and http) but it keeps giving me the verification error.

The only thing I haven't tried is a different brand of DVDs but until now I've never had any problems with this brand. Does anyone have any ideas?

I used a thumb drive to backup up a few files (/etc, /home, /boot/grub, using rsync as su) from an old pc that's used only as a print server (11.1, 2.6.27.19-32-default1686, KDE 4.1.3)

I then unmounted and removed the thumb drive. The next time I rebooted the boot process was halted and the screen shown here displayed. With the thumb attached the PC boots fine, but not without it.

I've tried all sorts of things including reattaching the thumb drive and unmounting it as root, but no luck. I've checked the drive and it contains only the backup folders.

any ideas?

Hi!
I want to install OS11.2
I've been running OS11.1 32bits w/KDE4.3 and Compiz fine. After upgrading to 11.2 something get messed up and now i am planing to reinstall from scratch.

Computer is Dell Latitude D830 Core2Duo and Nvidia NVS140 for mobile. I have 4GB memory.

Earlier the 64bits version caused some problems. Java and flash had problems and several application got problems. So even if i run 64bits version i was advised to use only 32bits applications.
What problem would i hit if i try 64bits version of OS11.2? How about Nvidia-driver? Java? Flash?

Or do you all still recommended 32bits version?
