Is it permissible to bump my own thread if there's been no response?
if so what would be an acceptable number of days?

What does "bump" mean ? As far as I am concerned, anyone is allowed to
respond to their own thread, thereby prodding the community.

Everyone here volunteers their time and sometimes a post can fall through the cracks, or not be seen by the person with the answer. If you haven't gotten a reply within 2-3 days, then by all means give it a bump so it will be back in the new posts list.

an answer..

I agree with 67GTA, 2 to 3 days seems to be acceptible.
But please do reconsider your thread. Does the title contain the information to lure the right people to your thread?
Is it posted in the correct (subb)forum. You could hesitate between two, but in that case choose one because they are apperently close enough. Do not post help questions in Genral Chitchat or Soapbox (at least when you want a real answer).
And does the post give enough information. Some people simply skip a thread if they have to start posting obvious questions. They can use their times for better things.

thanks, in no way was I implying anything critical and I do I understand the "fall through the cracks". In actuality the post been viewed 50 times but it could be no one has experienced it or has any idea (including the dev).
Can I also assume reposting out of the pre-beta would be ok as I've upgraded through today and launch is 18hours (+/-) away?

you should _never_ expect a dev to look in this forums to see what the
users are reporting as problems...you MUST file a bug report for any
dev to see it..

no, 1) multi-posting is not allowed, and 2) tomorrow you should be
running 11.3 AND the KDE 4.4.4 which comes with it to then post your
problems outside of pre-release
