Kind of inspired by Carlos mentioning leafnode, I got to wonder if it
might be possible to get a feed directly from o.o ?

A newsfeed - to have the o.o newsserver feed into mine directly. It's
the way newsgroup/USENET is distributed.

Yes, that's the feeling I got somewhere, so as it have it controlled
with little spam. Only one server. But perhaps they could think of
having a few spare servers, if the load increases.
Leafnode is designed as to appear to upstream as another client, not as
a server - so it works.

With a news feed program that looks like a reader, sure - but feeds that
require configuration on the server side (ie, forums.opensuse.org),
probably not - limited resources and such.

The former is not a feed, the latter is. It's not critical, it would
just enable me to merge the o.o fora with the o.o lists in my reader.

Are you talking forum specific feeds like this one?
http://forums.opensuse.org/external.php?type=RSS2

He's asking about a newsfeed (from NNTP).
