At 56% of loading the rate falls at 0kb/s and after a time on the loading process window a message appears "Timeout exceeded when accessing 'http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.4/rpm/noarch/timezone-java-2011d-0.2.1.noarch.rpm". Even if i uncheck timezone radio button in the updating list all other packages have the same issue.
    I am having the same problem with the same packages. I've tried manually changing the repositories to various local mirrors but no go. I can also download them manually using a web-browser, just not through package management. Last week I had the same problem with a different set of packages.

    I also have issues with how the updater applet works in 11.4. For one thing, it consistently identifies different packages as needing updating to those that yast identifies, which confuses me.

    Secondly, I can't actually install anything with the updater applet. It won't install without root authorisation (as I would hope!), but it also doesn't doesn't give me any opportunity to authenticate, so all updates fail. Now that's fine for me in that I have yast online update set to run automatically, thus covering my security needs, but it's a right pain when I download an rpm from a website and want to install it, because kpackagekit gets fired up and then refuses to do anything. Sure, I can install using rpm -ivh in the shell, but it would be nice if I could get kpackagekit to either do the job for me or stop trying to do it in the first place.

    No need. Simply run:

    gnomesu -c "/sbin/yast2 --qt online_update"

    or create a launcher.

    Hi All

    @esoltech

    It is so amazing you have the same issue and at the same %.

    @ALL

    I uninstalled KpackageKit, tried all solutions provided by Caf4926 > no success. It is really a mystery like sometimes with computers. My test node is an old PIII 1 G and i saw that there are sometimes strange things like mixing English and French language on the system. So i just installed OS114 KDE on an other node P4 2.4 G for whether this is due to PC. AND IT WORKS FINE !!! no trouble with updates. FYI an other thing about the PIII installation > it was done with the KDE114 live CD and on on the P4 was done with the OS114 DVD...

    @esoltech

    Maybe try a new installation or on an other node if you get one

    see u

    Verify in the log the exact mirror the download is using, then verify if
    you can do a manual download from that mirror.

    If it fails, report to Novel - there is a link somewhere.

    I've tried various mirrors and I can do manual downloads from my 11.2 box (firefox, wget etc), but I can't download from the 11.4, not with yast, not with zypper, not with wget, and not with firefox. I'd say it's firewall except that I can download other packages from the same servers, e.g. bootsplash downloaded fine this morning. Truly bizarre.

    Update: it's definitely not the firewall. Turning the firewall off doesn't help.

    I've reported this but had no answer. Anyone else got any ideas?

    I get cannot access installation media. Check whether the server is accessible. This is with an individual mirror server, but I get the same error with the opensuse update server as well.

    The files are there though.

    I don't understand why I would rebuild the rpm database. Isn't that for use with files that are already on your computer? Or are you suggesting I rebuild the existing rpms for these packages?
