    Default Installing Eclipse

    Hi,

How do I install eclipse on my openSUSE 10.2?

I m a newbie. So any information regarding installation of applications whether eclipse or otherwise would help a lot.

    Thank you.

In the bottom left corner, click on Computer, then on the right side, under System click on Install Software. A window will come right up asking for your password. Enter it. Wait for it to load and when a window "Software Manager - YaST" appears, enter, on the box that is on the right of "Packages listing:", eclipse. Select the "eclipse" package and on the bottom right corner click install. That's it.

    Hope it helped, ToKico

    10.2? Don't think that's supported any longer.

Consider upgrading to 11.1 and then it's as easy as searching the repository for eclipse and marking it for install. (and installing the sun version of java as eclipse doesn't seem to like openjdk or whatever is installed by default)

Shouldn't be too hard.... I usually install via Eclipse's site though if
Eclipse is in a repository that'd be even easier. The Eclipse-site way
is to go to www.eclipse.org, find a download link (Google helps with
this if you just search for 'eclipse', choose your Eclipse version and
platform, and then extract the file. Be sure you have at least a 1.5 or
1.6 JRE (1.4 doesn't work for me, but if you're on opensuse you may
already have newer.... check with `java -version`) and it may work just
by running the binary included therein.

    Good luck.
