Will be releasing package compilation for 64-bit on August 1st, new thread.
Thanks a lot john![]()
Hi everyone
I have changed my approach a little when compared to previous compilations. This is a part of my ongoing effort to try and improve the ease of installation.
* This time I installed test systems using KDE live and GNOME live CDs. This ensures that users who install from live CDs are not left out, unlike previous releases of mine where having the Open SuSE DVD was a prerequisite.
* Another change I have implemented is incorporating libxine (for KDE) and gstreamer plugins (for GNOME).
* WINE included
Packages:
* kchmviewer - a program to view CHM files
* mplayer - a multimedia player
* mplayerplug-in - firefox plugin for mplayer
* audacious - a winamp look-alike
* k3b - CD/DVD writing
* k3b-codecs - multimedia plugins for K3b
* k3b-lang - K3b language pack
* sox
* devede - DVD authoring
* audacity - A sound file editor
* avidemux - A demuxer, similar to VirtualDub
* ffmpeg - CLI video encoding tool
* transcode - CLI video encoding tool
* ntfs-config - mount ntfs partitions easily
* vlc - a multimedia player
* libdvdcss - dvd decryption
* w32codec - win 32 codecs for mplayer and kaffeine
* wine - a windows emulator
* libxine (KDE users only) - xine (unrestricted) for kaffeine
* gstreamer-0_10-ffmpeg gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mp3 - (GNOME users only) - plugins for totem
* gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mpegdemux - (GNOME users only) - plugins for totem
* gstreamer-0_10-mpegmux - (GNOME users only) - plugins for totem
* gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad - (GNOME users only) - plugins for totem
* gstreamer-0_10-plugins-base - (GNOME users only) - plugins for totem
* gstreamer-0_10-plugins-good (GNOME users only) - plugins for totem
* gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad (GNOME users only) - plugins for totem
* gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ugly (GNOME users only) - plugins for totem

They have all the dependencies solved, you don't need Internet to install any of these programs, I tested them with OpenSuse 11 using KDE 3.5, I think this is very important because not everybody has internet at home (like me) and the user doesn`t have to deal with the frustration of dependencies, making easy the use of linux, you have to unzip the content of both files in the same folder and create a repository from there using yast.

Hi Easgs... Can you do the same for the x86_64 edition of openSuSE 11.0 with KDE 3.5? I asked the same to doctorjohn2 and he, gently, created a thread with the same packages and dependencies available here but for the 64 bits edition of openSuSE 11.0.
I have no internet at home and no computer with openSuSE where I have internet access (usually my friends' homes), so this would be a great help for me and for other possible 64 bits users out there in the same situation...
Big thanks in advance![]()
Hi, what I can do is to search all the files contained in this collection for the 64 bit version of open suse, but I can not test them, and I dont think all of them will be available for x64, and because I use the 32 bit version of Suse and I have a lot of stuff installed in the pc, I don`t have a way to test the programs, but It will take some time because the Freedom software day is the next month and I need to finish some stuff for that day.
OK. If you can add Nvu (or Kompozer) and Stilus I will be extremely happy,
If you can make the compilation I will install it
Or, if you want, you may explain me how you do those compilations and I will see if I can do the same, but since you seem to have more experience than me I would like if you do it
Thanks a lot!![]()
I am extremely happy to see this work expanding. Sorry for a rather late post, I don't visit that often nowadays.
For those who would like to know how I make these packages using Smart Package Manager see this post
OpenSuSE 10.3 Packages+Dependencies+System Upgrade May 30th 2008 - Digit Forum
There was a thread on suselinuxsupport.de but I cannot find it
With OpenSUSE 11.0 I now use zypper as caching of rpms downloaded is now allowed
See

Will be happy to help you all in any way possible
All the best
