LaTeX Hyphenation not working (German and other languages)

This happens with a fresh KDE install of openSUSE 11.2. and texlive, texlive-bin, texlive-bin-latex, texlive-latex packages. I tried using Spanish but it results in the same error.

Does anybody know a solution?

Yes, today I had the same problem and finally found a fix for the error:

Package babel Warning: No hyphenation patterns were loaded for
(babel) the language `ngerman'
(babel) I will use the patterns loaded for \language=0 instead.

Edit the following file with root rights:

/etc/texmf/tex/generic/config/language.dat

and add those two lines (you probably don't need russian)

russian ruhyphen.tex
ngerman dehyphn.tex

Save the file and then update the texlive cache with:

sudo fmtutil-sys --all

Then the hyphenations will work again.

I believe this is a bug and should probably fixed in the distribution packages. Can somebody please report a bug for this?
