Yast2 login error: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host

When I use Yast2 at login I get the following message:

"Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host -based authentication failed."

I can still get in but would like to know what this error is and how to fix it.

first, why ask in the 64bit hardware forum? do you think is related to
a hardware problem you are having? if so, what problem are you having..

what operating system and version are you using?
have you installed openSUSE, or are you trying to install it?
how much linux experience do you have?
which desktop environment are you using?
are you running in a VM (which), or directly on hardware?
describe your hardware please..

is what you are seening on the machine you are at, or on a distant
machine...if distant, which what tools and how are you accessing it?

i am very confused by your question...in what way do you use YaST
during initial log in to the system?

explain what you see up to the point of the message you give above, like:

1. green screen where i select default boot of openSUSE
2. green screen with progress indicator
3. green log in screen with my ID highlighted as default
4. i fill in my password, hit enter and . . .

Sorry, you are right.. I was not concrete enough. My apologies.

OK. I have OpenSuse 11.3 (I upgraded from 11.2) running inside VirtualBox on MacBook pro (host).
Just to be precise.. I did not have that issue with 11.2.

My system is fully operational, I can login and use the OS without issues. I am running XFCE desktop.
I get this message when I invoke Yast2 from the XFCE menu. It then asked to enter root password.
Its after I enter root password I get this message. I still get through to yast and I can administer
all aspects of the OS.

I have been using OpenSuse since version 10.3 and I am pretty proficient when it comes to fixing the issues
or configuring my desktop, but I do not think this is relevant.

I have seen the similar questions on the Fedora forums, but my is specific to the use of Yast2 app.

Anyway, my apologies.

and see the many references there (in other distros)...so, i suggest
you do a lot of reading there and use your experience to figure out
how to apply what you find to your openSUSE, *carefully*..

forums, begin within and avoid the rush to trash your system by
