Hi, I recently installed OpenSuse 11 rc1 from Gnome Live cd, 64bit, and the repository refresh gave the following error:

Downloading repository 'Main Repository (OSS)' metadata [error]
Repository 'Main Repository (OSS)' is invalid.
/var/cache/zypp/raw/http:__download.opensuse.org_distribution_11.0_rep o_oss__12mZrVL: No metadata checksums in content file.
Please check if the URIs defined for this repository are pointing to a valid repository.
Skipping repository 'Main Repository (OSS)' because of the above error.
Some of the repositories have not been refreshed because of an error.

So, practicaly I have no OSS repo, what should I do with it?

Thank you in anticipation!

I'm in the same situation as above, although on a KDE4 installation. zypper ref is reporting the following:

martin@dell-desktop:~$ sudo zypper ref
content is unsigned, continue? [yes/NO]: yes
Downloading repository 'Main Repository (OSS)' metadata [error]
Repository 'Main Repository (OSS)' is invalid.
/var/cache/zypp/raw/http:__download.opensuse.org_distribution_11.0_rep o_oss_R60XDG: No metadata checksums in content file.
Please check if the URIs defined for this repository are pointing to a valid repository.

The repo is listed as:
download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0/repo/oss/

Which redirects to:
download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/

Any suggestions would be much appreciated - I'm moving the machine over from Kubuntu and am a little lost out of debian land.

The repo will only be available after the official release of 11.0. In the meantime you can update from the factory repository, but it is not supported to do so and can screw your system.

Sorry i wasn't clear: it's the factory-oss repo that is throwing the error:

There was an error in the repository initialization.
'factory-oss': Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)

The redirect from the "main" repo is working fine. But when it gets to the destination url it can't find metadata and skips the repo.

I've tried using a few alternate mirrors but although they do not throw these errors they do not appear to be working correctly either. For example I cannot find apache (apache2) listed in the packages - despite being able to find it in the repo. Selecting mysql etc. throws up a huge number of dependency problems. Very odd.

Sorted. I added the following as an additional mirror and it appears to be working fine...

http://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distrib...ry/inst-source/

Aside from some checksum errors, this mirror works for me too. Thnx!

Nope, it don't work, but the main oss is back
