I started this thread to help users (like myself) keep a record on the forum, of openSUSE-Beta2 and Bea3 bug reports we have raised (please include Links to the bug report), so we can find them quickly again, if we wish to check the status of the bug report.

========================
I wrote a bug report on openSUSE-11.0 beta2 faiing to hotplug mount an external USB hard drive with read/write permissions. I was subsequently easily able to mount the drive (with read/write) via konsole using the NTFS-3G driver.

This is:

My bug report was noted to be a duplicate of this bug report (initially raised on 11.0 beta1).

I just tested this (failed automatic/hot-plugin of an NTFS external drive) functionality on openSUSE 11.0 beta3, and the problem still exists. ... (Note it is possible (and easy) to manually mount the drive)

A bug I reported earlier on 11.0 alpha (and was fixed in beta1 and confirmed no problem in beta2) is back in beta3, or one similar, is back in 11.0 beta3.

It occurs about 75% of the time. Its very irritating (enough to stop me from installing 11.0 GM on any PC, if not fixed). Its possible (likely) this is hardware specific.

The bug report has been updated noting this problem has been resovled and should be fixed in the next release (which is Release Candidate 1 (RC1) with release scheduled for 29-May-08)). I'm happy to read the bug report received attention, and that the view is the problem will be fixed soon.

So I guess I need to download RC1 when it comes out and check it.

I really like the improved package management on 11.0 (zypper is now FAST on 11.0) so I am keen to install 11.0 GM release (in around 29 or 30 days). I also think I will install 11.0 on my mother's PC in Dec-2008 when I visit Canada, ... so I am very keen to see as many bugs fixed as possible in 11.0.

I have my fingers crossed for good luck.

I downloaded and installed RC1. The bug is still present. My PC froze on the 1st re-boot as part of the installation. It took 6 reboot attempts (the first 5 all froze immediately after the grub menu) before a successful boot.

I flagged the bug as being re-opened and raised it to blocking. I don't know if that will help the categorization, but I think that is more accurate than just "critical". If I had not known of the behaviour, it would have blocked my install attempt.
