Hi, I was wondering now that Vista and Leopard both support udf 2.5 for reading hd-dvd's and bluray discs will opensuse add it as well? This will really help people wanting to buy bluray discs and not compile their own kernel.

Also has anyone managed to apply the udf 2.5 patch on opensuse?

thanks, why don't they include it by default? I hate compiling my own kernel, always messes something up. Bluray has won the format war now, I really think it should be included by default.

If you search in the kernel mailing list you will find http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/2/7/102. So probably in will be available in 2.6.26. Search in the opensuse-kernel list ( http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kernel/...2/msg00057.html ) and you will see thay openSUSE 11.0 will use 2.6.25. So no UDF 2.5 support at all. But this isn't a rule wrote in stone. Go to the opensuse-kernel list, argument why openSUSE should patch 2.6.25 to add UDF 2.5 support and if you do it good enough you will have your UDF 2.5 support in openSUSE 11.0. |

I think the Ubuntu developers r considering UDF 2.5 support for Hardy, not only because of bluray but also because UDF 2.5 supports reading dvd's and stuff burnt in Vista.
