Hi!

Anybody know where I can find the kernel-source package for openSuSE 11.0 alpha0?
I use the kernel-default-2.6.24-rc3-git1-3.
I have searched all the openSuSE servers and mirrors but can't find the kernel-source package - only more recent versions (which doesn't work for me).

Thanks

I wander why they call next version 11.0 but not 10.4?

suse HEAD kernels:
http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/HEAD/i386/
a little newer
2.6.24_rc5_git2
will require kernel update and source installation.

sources for default kernel should be on installation dvd

these are only incremental numbers indicating a new version. Usually after some time of use one can tell if this is great version or simply average or worse than previous.

New suse will include KDE 4.0 so you can say that there is a reason behind the numbers, but who knows, maybe 11.0 will be worse than 10.3 (difficult to imagine)

I don't think that there is anything behind numbers, nothing like:
good suse when moving from 10.3 to 10.4 and would-be-super-suse when going from 10.3 to 11.0 or eventually-hyper-ultra-killer-suse when moving from 10.3 to 110.0 x 10^6

Thanks for the info. I have installed it from CD and there is no kernel-source package. I am downloading the DVD now...

2.6.24_rc5_git2 - I have seen it, but this kernel doesn't work for my system - it stops immediately after loading. This is the reason because I need the 2.6.24-rc3-git1-3 version.

Full version number change = bigger update.

shrug,
this is only meaningless convention. Not only suse but also other distros bring new software versions with each OS update. gentoo and mandriva use dates, Ubuntu uses alphabet and digits and so on.
