As I type I'm burning 10. 3 GM to DVD.

Torrents can be gotten from http://linuxtracker.org/

Also it is available via ftp from ftp.tu-ilmenau.de/mirror/opensuse/distribution/10.3/iso/

Have fun!

Geoff,

According to Andreas Jeager, the internal version was already tested, and this appears to be the real deal...

The i386 DVD was built on the 27th at 11:20-11:41 AM. It's installing on my laptop right now.

Cheers,

Rod

That the Read-Me at ftp.tu-ilmenau.de/mirror/opensuse/distribution/10.3/:
Quote:
openSUSE 10.3 will be released on October 4th.

Please do not your mirror to the public before this, we will send
details to the suse mirror mailing list.

In case of questions, please contact coolo at suse dot de or
aj at suse dot de,

Andreas

But the OP is right. That's the official distribution (unless someone forged the DNS at redirected the url to a fake system). They release it on the mirror too early.

These things always happen. I have mixed feelings about it. In any case I will be buying a boxed version so it doesn't make much a difference.

Geoff,

It asks for a login because all of the anonymous ftp slots are full-normal behavior. If you try again periodically you can get in. I downloaded with lftp.

There are currently no seeders for the ia64 dvd torrent, but the i386 torrent shows 13 distributed copies.

In the past I've usually gotten it early, as the mirrors are populated prior to the release date.

[EDIT] It's installed, and working quite well on the laptop. I had to compile the MadWiFi modules, as there aren't any binaries available yet. There are no 10.3 packages from guru yet, but I was able to get updated xine and mplayer and codecs from Packman-no mplayer plug-in, tho'.

The only quirk thus far is that Smart doesn't run properly from the KMenu-it appears to to try to run '--gui'. Adding the path (/usr/bin/) to the command fixed it.

Cheers,

Rod

The only one that actually has peers is the Gnome CD and friends don't let friends install Gnome.

They changed it now. When I tried, it was open.

I don't buy the boxed version. Novell it's making very much money out of selling openSuse boxes. It's more like a marketing operation. But I rather donate the money I would spend on a boxed version to a software-project I like, esp. kde.org.

But everyone does as they prefer.
