Did you look through the HowTos?

Look here: http://wiki.suselinuxsupport.de/wikka.php?...tPackageManager

I think the information you're looking for is in the Smart Setup Commands section.

You are quite right. Naturally, just change cdrom to what is in your fstab.

I could not add dvd as a channel to smart . Can anybody tell how actually "smart channel --add /mnt/cdrom" command works. Is there must be some specific dvd structure with some files containing required information for smart to be able to add it, I don't quite undersatand how it works?

Naturally, doing smart channel --add /mnt/cdrom isn't going to work in SUSE. First off, SUSE used to put things in /media. Secondly, cdrom may not be what your fstab has for dvdrom. This is why I said to check your fstab. With SUSE 10.1 it uses sysfs. In /sys, it should contain your dvdrom and cdrom. Always check your fstab, as it will shed the most light on the subject.

Netmask seems to think this will work for SUSE 10.1

smart channel --add type=yast2 baseurl=/media/SU1010 removable=True

Finally it works. Base URL for particular dvd is /media/SU1010_001_suse_i586 which different from its name its like path to the folder with 32bit suse distribution but this "/" replaced with "_". So I simply add it as YAST channel with above base URL and it works.
Thanks to all for help.

I'm pinning this to make it easier to find.

I also wonder if y'all think I should add this to the howto?

Probably a good idea to put it in the howto. I think each SuSE version will be slightly different, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to adapt to the differences.
