As topic says, i can't seem to get openSUSE to configure itself to the wireless at my university. I know that the wireless uses Network Authentication: WPA-Enterprise, Data Encryption: TKIP, 802.1x Authentication Type: TTLS and 802.1x Protocol: PAP from the wireless configuring manual that my uni provides, but that only documents the configuration of the windows wireless manager. As far as i've tried to work it out, i've not been able to solve whats going on.
Interestingly enough, even though i set it up, everytime i check on the settings it always goes back to AES-CCMP. Whats up with that? EDIT: This article, for Fedora 8, somehow related to my issue on oepnSUSE? http://liquidat.wordpress.com/2008/01/24/n...le-works-again/ |

try using wifi-radar, network manager doesn't do wpa-enterprise very well, i'd say, from a personal point of view, use wifi-radar anyway, much better at handling wireless than networkmanager,

should do, if wpa_supplicant is working right.worked ok for me when i used to yomp around town & a few companies use it in my area,so when i went to sort their problems i used to log in to their networks using wpa-enterprise.here's a little something to read http://hostap.epitest.fi/wpa_supplicant/

Thanks for the reply guys. Anyway,
model: Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG drivers: uhm standard openSUSE ones, untouched is the word for it i guess program: NetworkManager on openSUSE. Thanks for the recommendation Andy, and i know this might sound a bit n00b-ish but how can i get wifi-radar installed on my suse box now that i don't have a direct internet connection into suse? at the moment i'm using flash drives and the like to get files into suse and after that talk about using ./configure, i don't think i'd want to install wifi-radar through that method. Do they have a .package or something? (checks website... and yes they do have .rpm files) On uni's linux boxes now so once i get them onto the laptop hopefully i can figure out how to install .rpms easy... thanks anyway! ![]() EDIT: so installing it was the easy bit. I've got it installed through the rpm but now i can't figure out how to use it. I've managed to get the gui to come out by "sudo wifi-radar" but everything in that gui doesn't quite make as much sense to me, at least not as much sense as what NetworkManager made to me. Kinda lost on this part... |

ipw that should get that sorted. see if that works. you may want to go into preferences and increase the scan time out (in wifi-radar this is). check in yast (just do a search) for wpa, and check that wpa supplicant is installed as well. |
