I have a trend.net wireless router. In addition to being a router it also has a 4 port hub. I have been into it and one of the things I set was the device ip address.
Now I cannot access it. The procedure to reset to factory defaults does not seem to reset the ip address. I believe I know the address I assigned to it--- I believe it is 192.168.254.253. The speedstream modem/router is 192.168.254.254. I can access the speed stream; but I cannot access the trend wireless router. If I "ping" 192.168.254.253 The error I get is Quote:

personally, i would disconnect from the mains & press the reset button.failing that, press & hold the reset button for 30 seconds, that normally resets to default

Hmm... I am assuming that you have tried a different wired port? I know I have one dead port on my router (happened during a Thunderstorm). Also another thought is the old IPv6 disable thingy.

IPv6 is disabled; And yes, I think Ive tried all 4 ports.
I thought the error messages returned from "ping" were significant - the ping command was "ping 192.168.254.253" . The "time to live exceeded" response was from 192.168.254.254 --- that is the speedstream router. |

Reading through my routers guide on troubleshooting:
If you have a Static IP address for your computer and have selected get the IP from DHCP you will not be able to connect to the router. Make sure your computer is Using a IP address in the default range and that you have chosen the correct Subnet mask. Also check that DNS is correct. Finally you might go to the routers Manufacturers website and see if there is any additional steps that you can try. Do not know if any of this helps, but I thought I would toss it out there. |

Thank you for the thoughts and the time to try and help. Unfortunately, I am about ready to take it out in the woods and use it as a target to zero in the .308. Gary |
