i got connected with ndiswrapper and my netgear wg511t xp drivers then updated my madwifi rpm's and my kernel . wg511t is Atheros, pciid: 168c:0013... kernel now is 2.6.22.17-0.1default.. checked my software management, the two installed rpm's now in installed software are madwifi 0.9.3.99 and madwifi-kmp-default-0.9.3.3_2.6.22.16_0.2-0.1.i586..

how do i change from ndiswrapper to madwifi?

thanks

in a console, su to root then,

ndiswrapper -r <driver name> & press enter.

then, once the driver is removed,install the madwifi drivers & then type,in a console,as root

modprobe ath_pci

since the two rpm's madwifi 0.9.3.99 and madwifi-kmp-default-0.9.3.3_2.6.22.16_0.2-0.1.i586 are in my installed software section of software management, does that mean the drivers are already installed?

madwifi is better right?
thanks

if they appear with a blue tick next to them, they are installed.madwifi *should* be better as the driver was designed for linux

i did type ndiswrapper -r netw511
modprobe ath_pci

my cardbus is netgear wg511t
doesnt connect when i reboot only one light blinks on the cardbus...
in the network card setting section of network card.
name of card says in overview of network setting - netgear AR5212/AR5213 multiprotocol MACbaseband processor
MAC ??.??.??.??.??.??
DEVICE NAME: Wlan wlan0
started: at boot
IP address using dhcp

when i hit configure the info there is
device type: wireless , configuration name: wlan0
its a cardbus card so should device name be PcMCIA?
dynamic address DHCP

HArdware rule ATTR(ADDRESS)=="??.??.??.??.??.??"

if i su to root and type modprobe ath_pci
my card will work and can connect to internet but when i reboot it doenst, only one light blinkn
then will have to type modprobe ath_pci again

I hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree not a wireless user open

yast2 => system => /etc/sysconfig editor

Search for modules
MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT

Looks like the place hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Sorry I can't be more specific not a wireless user. So never really had to play with modules on boot.

i dont see any modules_loaded_on_boot maybe its named something different but i hate typing modprobe ath_pci everytime i reboot to get my wireless card working again.. it works fine when i type modprobe ath_pci but when i reboot no connection til i type modprobe ath_pci.. what missing or what did i miss while installing madwifi or whats confliting

in the address section of network card setting it says configuration name as wlan0
