HI,
I'm trying to get a DLink DWL-G122 Rev C1 working on Suse 10.3 64-bit. I've installed the setrialmonkey RT73 driver and followed all instructions and the device is up and running and showing the wireless connection as established.
# iwlist wlan1 scan
wlan1 Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: 00:1C:10:42:E0:24
ESSID:"joseryannigel"
Mode:Managed
Channel:11
Encryption keyn
Bit Rates:0 kb/s

# ifconfig
wlan1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:19:5B:8D:6D:43
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:12289 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:4624 errors:0 dropped:5 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:1317871 (1.2 Mb) TX bytes:304272 (297.1 Kb)

However it's not showing up in YAST and I can't ping the router.
Any help appreciated.

you can't ping because you don't have an ip address. a few things to check:

1 ) firewall is set to external
2 ) any encryption on the router is the same for the device
3 ) if MAC address filtering is used on the router, make sure your device's MAC address is added.
4 ) check encryption key, most are case sensitive

see if any of these help

Hi Andy,
I've never set up a Firewall and unless it's different default from ethernet link then it shouldn't be set. My Ethernet worked until last electrical storm and blew ethernet port on the motherboard despite surge protectors on phone line.
Encryption is the same this is setting:
amd64:/home/sparks # iwconfig wlan1 essid joseryannigel
amd64:/home/sparks # iwconfig wlan1 key open
amd64:/home/sparks # iwconfig wlan1 key 1f2f354f5f
amd64:/home/sparks # iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

wlan1 RT73 WLAN ESSID:"joseryannigel"
Mode:Managed Frequency=2.462 GHz Access Point: 00:1C:10:42:E0:24
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s
RTS thrff Fragment thrff
Encryption key:1F2F-354F-5F
Link Quality=97/100 Signal level:-46 dBm Noise level:-79 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

I use OPEN authentication, WEP encryption with key 1f2f354f5f on the router. XP laptop connects OK.

MAC Address filtering is off on the Router.

Any ideas?

Colin
