my friends laptop has hewlett packard company bcm94311mcg wlan mini-pci wireless card, the drivers installed are bcm43xx. i have configured the card the same as i have mine set up, but it won't even detect the network, let alone connect. any ideas why it wont work. i have set it to connect at boot, which still has the same problem as when it was at cable connection. have tried updating the drivers, still no success i have tried using knetworkmanager as well as kinternet, both have the same problems of not even finding the network.

any help would be appreciated.

I had some trouble too to get my broadcom bcm4312 going.
Solved it with ndiswrapper, see here howto.

Please use correct WinXP drivers and SuSE stock ndiswrapper for succes.

Read a little better

post 3, visit HP drivers page for the laptop and use cabextract to get the .inf and .sys file.
Be sure to select the right WinXP, 32-bit or 64-bit.

Visit the web for great howto's on ndiswrapper... (mine is the short, short version )
