Hey everyone, I am running openSuSE 10.3. I have no clue how to get this working. I installed ndiswrapper 1.52 and have a BCM3428 (rev 03). I have done everything I can see in the tutorials. I have checked and ndiswrapper is listed as a module. I have listed and my hardware is present and installed properly. I go into YaST and try to configure network card. I setup a new wireless card and have the module be ndiswrapper. When I am done, I choose to configure the module, and ndiswrapper isn't listed anymore as being the driver/modules. i have set ndiswrapper to load at boot under /etc/sysconfig/kernel and put modprobe ndiswrapper in /etc/init.d/network. I tried everything and nothing is working. I know it can work cause I had it working once before with a previous install of OpenSusE 10.3 but when I rebooted it vanished. I tried using bcm43xx-fwcutter and bcm43xx and nothing. I blacklisted bcm43xx now and I just don't know.

I have no idea what to do. Any ideas?

hello,

i just installed opensuse 10.3 on my wife's laptop yesterday and had to use ndiswrapper to get her broadcom wifi working. everything worked great for me but i had trouble getting it started at boot too. i finally got ndiswrapper loaded after boot by doing this:

Quote:
Go into YAST, go into the Network Devices, and then into the Network Card. Select the Broadcom wifi card in the list of adapters. Click CONFIGURE. In the HARDWARE tab, there is a drop-down box called “Module Name”. Type ‘ndiswrapper‘ in there. Click NEXT to configure your wireless network settings for this adapter.[/b]
the above text is taken from scott morris' website here.

still haven't figured out how to activate my wifi connection automatically. iam using knetworkmanager and i have to add my essid and password and kwallet password on each re-boot. at least i got ndiswrapper loaded so i don't have to modprobe it each time.

as for having to type in your network name and password etc each time you have to connect (using knetwork manager), try using wifi-radar, its very good and stores profiles of wireless networks you use. have not figured out how to get it working at boot yet, but it will save your wireless key (such as WEP key for example) and your ESSID so you will not keep having to type these in over and over again, just an idea; gets you that one step further to typing less each time you connect.

actually, i got it working a couple of days ago. what i did was shut off the knetworkmanager and move back to the traditional network manger (ifup/ifdown). filled in everything in yast. now when i reboot my wifi connection is active and working. no more plugging in my essid an password.

i'm sure i could have gotten it working the other way but i had trouble getting kwallet to start up on boot too. maybe that's where my real problem was. nevertheless, everything works great now.
