Unhappy

Hi, i have been using linux for quite a while now and everything has been fine. But just recently the internet has stopped working on my openSUSE 10.2. I think this happened since i tried to use airsnarf and then realised i couldnt anyway. (my adaptor/drivers dont support master)

Could of installing airsnarf and DHCPD which you need for it, have done something to my internet settings. Now here is the weird bit i can connect as usual to my router and everything is fine, i have pinged my router and i get replies i also pinged google and i got replies, this shows that i am connected to the internet, correct?. But when i open firefox or try to login in pidgin or update, basically anything that uses the internet, it doesnt connect its like im disconnected but i have tested the connection with ping. If you can help me with this weird problem please reply i am hating using windows to post this.

if you require any additional information please ask.

Thanks

Liam

Is IPv6 disabled?
You might post the results of ifconfig and route.

 , Hi this is very weird as now im posting this from suse. I logged in just to check if IPv6 was enabled like u said and to post some info. I didn't do anything connected as usual and just tested it out of curiosity and it works.

Have not got a clue why it works now as the following few days it has not.

Thanks anyway, hope it stays working now.

Sounds like it was a temporary loss of service by your ISP, relating to the the name servers perhaps.

I hate that when it happens. Something is wrong but the minute you ask for the mechanic to look at it everything works great. I suspect there is still a problem and with your post about mouse problems it may just maybe a hardware issue. So start by running memtest and also check that your computer is free from dust. Something is going on and it has not been isolated yet.

There have been numerous problems with DNS over the past few days. That may have been the problem. I know AT&T/BellSouth has been wonky.

Hi everyone thanks for your replies. There was not a loss of servie by my ISP because my net worked in windows and i could ping google through suse.

You saw my other post then. . To run memtest is that by inserting the cd and then running it. Im not to bothered with the mouse at moment but the xserver problem i explained is doing my head in. No one has replied to my other post so im going to post the log files if i can find them.

I might get a 10.3 disc and update the whole system see how that works.

Thanks for your help.
