We have a SuSe Linux Enterprise Server 10.0 Sp1 as a DC with Samba & LDAP. Now we are going to build up a wlan in our office, and we would like to do it so, that our wlan is open, but when user connects to our wlan and starts to browse internet or checks hes/hers mail etc, the webbrowser/email client would show a webpage that reguires authentication before the user can actually use the internet. Ofcourse we would like to use the same ldap database as we use for domain authentication... I know it's possible, but I have no idea how...

Can anyone give anything to google with, or maybe eaven a howto?

I am no expert in this, but I dont think leaving the wlan open is a good security idea.

Maybe you will find answers in Freeradius. Have a look at this page for a start - it may give some ideas as you already have ldap running.

You can check out freeradius.org for information. (The server there was not responding, however, when I tried just now).

Hope this is of some help.

Thanks heeps Paul, that was very helpful. I'm so looking forward testing this thing!

You're welcome. (Heaps is spelled h e a p s - but don't worry. I suspect that your English is waaayyy better than my Finnish).

By the way, using PAM (pluggable authentication modules), it may be possible to produce a single sign on system - where the user enters a password only once for all required services. I dont know this for a fact, however.
