First off this probably won't appeal to laptop users.
With the arrival of 10.3, I decided to retire my Orinoco (still had Lucent logo) 802.11b hardware after many years of faithful service on my backup PC. I tried a Belkin card that used the zydas chipset. Got it recognized but couldn't get it to work (pretty flakey on the Windows XP side also). As I was looking for other alternatives, I came across a Netgear wireless print server (WGPS606) that was also a wireless switch in Best Buy for $100.
So I searched Google for a wireless ethernet switch or a way to put a wireless router (as I have a spare) in bridge mode. Not a whole lot of luck. Linksys also had a wireless printer server and a wireless ethernet adapter. Looking at amazon, it was still cheaper to get the netgear wireless print server ($75 w/free shipping). So I did.
Forget the setup utilities that come on the cd and the printed manual, they didn't work for me. There is a pdf manual on the cd. By looking at it, I learned that.
1) I could use the web interface to set it up.
2) The default ip address was 192.168.0.102
3) The PC used for setup must have a static ip (probably the reason I couldn't use the setup utility).
4) It would handle my security (WEP).
Has been working without problems for over a week now. I realize this is overkill for my needs.
