I'm new to linux. I love the interface of openSUSE 10.3 and everything about it. I consider myself to be more than adequate when it comes to windows xp and mac. I had one class in visual basic and c++ but thats it. But now I might just give up on linux all together because I just can't get my netgear wg311t to install with madwifi.
Here's the deal: I used 1-click install for Yast...everything went ok If I go into software management I see "madwifi" in the installed column I rebooted (to be safe) and went to "network card" ...nothing except my wired connection tried to search for "modprobe ath_pci" in root and I get "FATAL: Module ath_pci not found." I have tried many different approaches for 3 days and now I'm stuck..here's some info \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ 26: PCI 201.0: 0200 Ethernet controller [Created at pci.301] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_168c_13 Unique ID: GA8e.6YBoXuWNRV3 Parent ID: qscc.hTSZxA6Z5F6 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:02:01.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:02:01.0 Hardware Class: network Model: "Netgear AR5212/AR5213 Multiprotocol MAC/baseband processor" Vendor: pci 0x168c "Atheros Communications, Inc." 32bit or 64bit SuSE ? if 64bit,you will have lots of problems with wireless, as not many 64bit drivers work very well

yeah, go with 32bit SuSE, will be easy to get wireless working with madwifi, just install madwifi default & kmp & you will be ok
