This is not about Linux but is there a linux program that can scan my sons PC to find the password as he has forgotten his password.
Or do I have to reformat the PCX My son is using Vista. Help |

try http://www.openwall.com/john/ John the ripper password cracker. Available for Windows, Linux, Mac.
It basically uses a dictionary (i used it about one year ago and it seems to me you can choose different dictionaries. Be aware that you might have to download like 8 GB of dictionary. I am not sure if it was John the Ripper or another program though) to try a brute force attack. Now, if your previous password was easily cracked, it will find it (might take days, be aware). If the password was clever and hard to crack, then no hopes. You can try however with a more complete dictionary, choosing among the available ones. |
